<Haeundae-gu mayor Hong Soon-heon said, congratulations on the Sand Jurassic Festival>

Busan Haeundae-gu (Mayor Hong Soon-heon) will hold (the 2021 Haeundae Sand Works Exhibition) from May 5 to 9 at Haeundae Beach & Gunam-ro Haeundae Plaza.

The Haeundae Sand Festival, which celebrated its 16th anniversary, is the only sand-based festival in Korea, and was canceled last year as Corona 19.

This year, with the theme of (Sand, Jurassic World), the Haeundae Beach Sand Works Exhibition and Gunam-ro Haeundae Square Flower Exhibition will be operated. Programs that are expected to attract crowds, such as opening ceremony performances, street parades, and marine fireworks shows, have been abolished. The name of the event was also called “Sand Works Exhibition” instead of (Festival).

Quarantine thoroughly and safely
Above all, we put emphasis on “safety” by thoroughly complying with the corona prevention rules. There are three quarantine centers in Gunam-ro Haeundae Plaza and Haeundae Beach, equipped with a heat check, QR electronic access list, and disinfection system.

The direction of viewing the exhibition is one-way, and quarantine personnel are assigned to manage the number of visitors & traffic.  Sandboards and children's sand playgrounds, which are popular with children, are also operated by limiting the number of people by complying with social distancing, and all equipment is sterilized after use.

A dinosaur appeared in Haeundae. 
The theme of the 2021 Haeundae Sand Works Exhibition is (Sand, Jurassic World), and 11 dinosaur sand works will be created.  Since the start of the event is Children's Day, dinosaurs that children like are presented as sandwork. In 2019, 14 artists from 8 countries produced 20 sand works, but this year, foreign artists were absent & only 3 domestic artists participated, reducing the number of works. Host an amateur sand artist contest to discover domestic sand artists. When you win the contest, you will receive a total prize money of 5 million won and a privilege for participation in the following sand work exhibition.

Healing Space Flower Carpet
The entire 400m section of Haeundae Plaza will be displayed with flowers. It is an event that comforts citizens who are tired of corona and helps local flower complexes who are experiencing difficulties. It displays130,000 copies of 11 kinds, including Borrelia, on the (flower carpet), and also sells flowers directly at the flower park.

The exhibition program can be viewed from 10 am to 10 pm. Sand works and flower carpets will continue to be displayed until May 30 even after the official event period ends. On May 30, the last day, a unique event in which visitors break the sand castle together is also unfolded.

However, depending on the COVID-19 social distancing stage, some programs may be canceled.
