정의용 국가안보실장은 어제 오후 4시부터 50분 동안 청와대에서 스티븐 비건 미국 국무부 대북특별대표와 면담을 가졌습니다. 정 실장은 북미 실무협상을 앞두고 미국 측의 입장을 청취하고, 우리 정부가 생각하는 현단계의 상황평가와 앞으로 해야 할 과제 등에 대해 의견을 전달했습니다.

Chung ui-yong, the head of the Nat'l Security Agency, met with Stephen Viegun, the US special envoy for North Korea, at Cheong Wa Dae from 4 pm on yesterday. Chung heard the US side's position ahead of the US-North Korea talks and gave feedback on the current situation of the Korean government and the future challenges.

U.S. Special Representative for North Korea Stephen Biegun will travel to Pyongyang on February 6 for meetings with his DPRK counterpart Kim Hyok Chol to prepare for the President’s second summit with Chairman Kim & advance further progress on the commitments the President & Chairman Kim made in Singapore: complete denuclearization, transforming U.S.-DPRK relations, and building a lasting peace on the Korean Peninsula.
